Sokratis  Famellos announced his candidacy for the leadership of SYRIZA at noon on Thursday (26/09)

"Let's all go together! With a sense of responsibility towards the history of the Left, I am running for President of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance. In this effort, I ask you all to participate. To become proud of our party again! But also because the next day of SYRIZA-P.S. concerns the whole society!" he said in a post.

A majority of the "87" party members has backed the candidacy of Mr. Famellos.  The presence of the "87" at Alexis Tsipras' award ceremony was not accidental, as they wanted to send a message to the Kasselakis side that the front against him is widening, while many also stood by the former Prime Minister's off-text quote that "I know that many of you here are heartbroken...".
