The European Commission has announced that it has cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the acquisition of sole control of Terna Energy by Masdar of the United Arab Emirates.

As stated in the announcement, the transaction mainly concerns the renewable electricity sector.

The Commission adds that it has concluded that the notified transaction does not raise competition concerns given the limited market position of the companies in the market as a result of the proposed transaction. The transaction was examined in the context of the simplified merger review procedure.
