Nikos Androulakis was re-elected president of PASOK, achieving a clear victory in the second round of the internal party elections, having collected 59.92% against 40.08% for Harris Doykas, according to the final results, which amounts to a difference of 41,671 votes. It should be noted that the turnout compared to the first round, where 303,223 citizens voted, was down by about 28.5%.

Androulakis, in his final speech at Harilaou Trikoupis, sent a unifying message to everyone in PASOK and a message of invitation to citizens who are disappointed with the current government policy.

"Today there are no winners and losers. The winner is PASOK. And starting tomorrow, working together, we'll advance our movement even further! The PASOK president stressed that "together we will move forward, without populism, with serious and reliable programmatic discourse".

He expressed confidence that PASOK and the democratic party can succeed in defeating ND, "It has a duty to give hope and prospects to the Greek people, to the younger generations. Especially now that the false promises have collapsed, now that the flags of opportunity have faded, now that the eyes of more and more Greeks are turning back to our party."

He pledged to do everything in his power to meet their expectations and "to end the omnipotence of New Democracy. To end the unworthiness, the opacity, the corruption."

"This, the patriotic progressive movement, must embrace the younger generations. It must unite the Greek people in a progressive plan, which we will fight to become a government programme in the next national elections," he also noted.

At the same time, he thanked his co-candidates Harry Doukas, Pavlos Geroulanos, Anna Diamantopoulou, Michalis Katrinis, and Nadia Giannakopoulou. "With their attitude, they have shown that PASOK has quality cadres and political maturity.

For his part, Mr. Doukas acknowledged the result as of 8.30 , congratulated Androulakis by phone for his victory and thanked him, saying "we are all moving forward together".
