Demand for mortgage loans decreased in the third quarter
In Q3 2024, the lending criteria for non-financial corporations (NFCs) remained unchanged compared to Q2 2024, in line with the expectations expressed in the previous quarter's survey as the Bank of Greece announced today.

In Q3 2024, the lending criteria for non-financial corporations (NFCs) remained unchanged compared to Q2 2024, in line with the expectations expressed in the previous quarter's survey.

Moreover, according to a Bank of Greece report, banks expect the criteria to remain unchanged during Q2 2024. Overall lending conditions for MFIs also remained unchanged compared to Q2 2024.

During Q3 2024, total loan demand from MFIs remained almost unchanged and is expected to remain unchanged in the following quarter. The proportion of business loan applications rejected remained unchanged from the previous quarter.

LOANS TO HOUSEHOLDS

In Q3 2024, the criteria for loans to households remained unchanged from Q2 2024. Overall mortgage and consumer lending conditions also remained unchanged. Mortgage and consumer lending criteria are expected to remain unchanged during the second quarter of 2024.

Demand for mortgage loans declined due to the level of interest rates and the wait-and-see attitude of households ahead of the announcement of the subsidised housing programme "My House II". Demand for consumer loans remained almost unchanged. For the second quarter of 2024, demand for home loans is expected to remain nearly unchanged, while demand for consumer loans is expected to remain unchanged.

In Q3 2024, the ratio of applications for mortgage and consumer loans that were denied remained unchanged.
