Downward revision of inflation in September, Eurozone at 1.7% and Greece at 3.1%
Eurozone inflation was slightly lower in September than initially estimated, according to final data released today by Eurostat.

Eurozone inflation was slightly lower in September than initially estimated, according to final data released today by Eurostat. 

In particular, the annual inflation rate in the euro area was 1.7% in September 2024, down from 1.8% initially announced and from 2.2% in August. A year earlier, the rate was 4.3%.

Annual inflation in the European Union was 2.1% in September from 2.4% in August. A year earlier, the rate was 4.9%.

The lowest annual rates were registered in Ireland (0.0%), Lithuania (0.4%), Slovenia, and Italy (both 0.7%), while the highest annual rates were recorded in Romania (4.8%), Belgium (4.3%), and Poland (4.2%).

In Greece, inflation was 3.1% in September, down from 3.2% in August and 2.4% a year earlier. 

Compared with August 2024, annual inflation fell in twenty member states, remained stable in two, and rose in five, the European statistics office said.
