The Athens Stock Exchange started the new week on the left, with sellers returning to the "steering wheel," stopping the "silent" upward streak of the previous days.
Thus, the Greek market remained stuck in the familiar narrow boundaries of the last few months, while successive capital raisings seem to be a "noose" on the available liquidity of investors.
And all this while investors' attention is focused on Attica Bank's share capital increase on the one hand and on the third quarter corporate results, which are expected to set the tone for the current period.
Specifically, in the first session of the five-day period, the General Index recorded a slight decline of 0.34% and stood at 1,438.72 points, losing about five points compared to Friday's close (1,443.57 points).
The arc of daily fluctuations was fixed at 13 points (from 1,432.27 to 1,445.11 points), with a turnover of 83 million euros, of which 9.2 million euros related to pre-agreed packages.
The banking index, after last week's gains, did not show any willingness to continue its upward streak, sliding to -0.95% and 1,226 points.
Eurobank's share was down -2.33% and EUR 2.01, Alpha's share followed at -1.80% and EUR 1.502, ΝΒG'share fell -0.35% and EUR 7.444, while Piraeus' share was marginally stronger at +0.21% and EUR 3.875.
In the high-cap index (-0.47% and 3,503 points), OTE shares avoided big losses, finishing at -0.3% and 16 euros, despite the imposition of a fine in Romania. Cenergy and Elvalhalcor followed at -1% and -1.3%, with the former falling to 8.9 euros (9 euros the price of the recent capital increase. Ellaktor and Lamda lost 1% and 1.8%, respectively. In contrast, PPC shares rose 0.5% in the wake of the issuance of a new EUR 500 million bond.
As for the mid-cap index (+0.17% and 2,319 points), Intralot's share stood out negatively at -2.7% and EUR 1.07, with shares of Techniki Olympiaki, EYATH, Quest, and Austriacard retreating more than -1%. On the flip side, Intracom's shares gained a strong 2%, while shares of EXAE, ADMIE (new high for the year), and Intrakat rose by at least 1%.
