The Athens Stock Exchange completed its 4th consecutive downward session today (24/10), with banks putting a "stop" on the return of buyers.

As a result, the Greek market was temporarily even below the psychological threshold of 1,400 points, before the supports were finally activated, which kept the General Index slightly above the critical "barrier.".

All of this, in fact, occurred despite the fact that the current retracement (-2.8% since the beginning of the week) has made valuations of the "heavyweights" attractive again, as the latter prepare to present another quarter of strong profitability.

Specifically, in the 4th session of the week, the General Index recorded a new decline of 0.32% to 1,402.60 points, losing 4.5 points compared to Wednesday's close (1,407.14 points).

The arc of daily fluctuations was fixed at 17 points (from 1,397.58 to 1,415.71 points), with a turnover of 120 million euros, of which 17.1 million euros were pre-agreed packages.

Piraeus shares tumbled -2.43% and 3.62 euros (2.5-month low), NBG shares followed at -2.32% and 7.154 euros (6-month low), Alpha shares traded -1.70% and 1.4135 euros (12-month low), while Eurobank shares held steady at +0.50% and 1.90 euros.

In the high-cap index (-0.46% and 3,390 points), Jumbo shares contracted by -2.44% and lost 25 euros, while Ellaktor shares followed with a loss of 1.6%. Motor Oil, Viohalco and Coca - Cola retreated by 0.5% to 0.7%. In contrast, Metlen's shares expanded by +1% and returned above EUR 33, thanks to positive 9-month financials. At the same time, Cenergy's shares gained +3% and re-approached EUR 9, which is equal to the price of the recent capital increase. From there, OTE's shares were up +1% and EUR 15.9, while PPC's shares rose 1.5%, following the successful issue of the 7-year bond.

As for the mid-cap index (-0.03% and 2,286 points), Fourlis' shares stood out negatively at -3% and folded to 3.6 euros, with Dimand and Lavipharm shares following more than -2%. Profile, AVAX and Intracom were down at least 1%. On the flip side, Intrakat shares "flew" +2.9% and 4.8 euros, with a turnover of 930 million euros. A special mention should be made of Attica Bank, which continued its strong volatility, finishing at 6 euros ("played" between 5 and 7.8 euros), which translates into a valuation of 9.7 billion euros.
