The Athens Stock Exchange is looking for an upward escape today (29/10), which is making a significant reaction after the five-day downward streak and the loss of critical supports.

The Greek market, with an eye on the upcoming 9-month financial results, is trying to recover some of the recent liquidation, which last week exceeded -3.6% and drove the General Index below 1,400 points.

Of course, no one can overlook the fact that for several weeks Athens Avenue has been moving in a narrow range of change, visibly hesitating to exceed or even approach the multi-year highs of May (1,502 points).

Specifically, in the first session of the new week, the General Index is up a remarkable 1.08% to 1,405.50 points, gaining more than 15 points compared to Friday's close (1,390.25 points).

The arc of the daily fluctuations extends over eight points (from 1,397.45 to 1,405.63 points), with the turnover of the transactions ranging at 5.5 million in the first 15 minutes.

The banking index, which came under considerable pressure in the previous five days (-7.1%), is trying to recover from 9-month lows, and as a result is up +1.55% and 1,166 points.

Alpha's shares widen to +2.11% and EUR 1.43, Piraeus' shares follow at +1.92% and EUR 3.618, Eurobank's shares trade at +1.65% and EUR 1.911, while NBG's shares rise to +1.36% and EUR 7.15.

In the high-cap index (+1.28% and 3,394 points), OTE's share climbs +1.9% and approaches 16 euros again. OPAP, Ellaktor, ELVALHALKOR, PPC, Aegean, Viohalco and Cenergy follow at least at +1%, while Metlen's share gains 1.6% and stands at 32.8 euros. On the flip side, shares of Helleniq Energy and Titan Cement retreat by up to 0.5%.

As for the mid-cap index (+0.77% and 2,308 points), Intracom's shares stand out at +3.8% and 2.8 euros, with EXAE's shares following at +2.2% and 4.4 euros. At the same time, Kri Kri's share price surpasses 14 euros (a new record) as it gains 2.8%. Thrace Plastics, AVAX, Quest and Profile are up more than 1%, while Intrakat shares are stable at 5 euros.
