The Environmental Awards 2024, which highlight and reward best practices and initiatives for environmental protection and sustainability, honored Attica Group with 1 gold award for the use of technologies that reduce the environmental footprint, 2 silver awards for initiatives related to recycling and waste prevention, and 3 bronze awards for efforts related to efficient water management, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and actions against climate change.
In particular, Attica Group, which operates under the brands Blue Star Ferries, Superfast Ferries, Hellenic Seaways, and ANEK Lines, was awarded with:
- Gold Award in the category "Sustainable Shipping/SSustainable Maritime" for the development and installation of modern ICT technologies & applications aiming at energy efficiency with a lower environmental footprint.
- Silver award in the category "Recycling-RReuse of Waste/WWaste Recycle-RReuse" for the group's emphasis on recycling and reuse of waste resulting from its production process.
- Silver award in the category "Prevention of Generated Waste/Waste Prevention" for the management and prevention of generated waste resulting from the production process.
- Bronze award in the category "Water Consumption Reduction/WWater Conservation" for the group's emphasis on the "water agenda" based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6, implementation of successful practices, installation of modern technology for the management of water used in the production process/ooperation and for the utilization of wastewater.
- Bronze Award in the "Environmental CSR" category for the design and implementation of communication strategies as well as for undertaking significant initiatives in the context of corporate social responsibility with the aim of promoting the concept of sustainability in the wider society.
- Bronze Award in the category "Climate Change" for the design and implementation of actions aimed at mitigating the effects of climate change.
