The Athens Stock Exchange slid to a new almost three-month low today (30/10), with sellers again sweeping the board, wiping out (more than) yesterday's gains.

The Athens Stock Exchange slid to a new almost three-month low today (30/10), with sellers again sweeping the board, wiping out (more than) yesterday's gains.

The Greek market, in fact, retreated below 1,400 points and the 200-day moving average (1,396 points), confirming the volatility and volatility of recent weeks. Let's not forget that October's losses are now as high as -5%.

Somehow, the 9-month corporate figures seem to be the last possible way out for buyers, who see the current environment as not conducive to taking unnecessary risk amid the recovery of inflation in Germany and ahead of the US presidential election.

Specifically, in the second session of the week, the General Index declined by 1.38% to 1,381.81 points, losing at least 19 points compared to Tuesday's close (1,401.18 points).

The arc of daily fluctuations was fixed at 25 points (from 1,377.23 to 1,402.77 points), with a turnover of 134 million euros, of which 17.3 million euros were pre-agreed packages. 

The banking index, despite yesterday's upward reaction, returned to the "red", retreating to -1.99% and 1,147 points. As a result, the distance from this year's highs (1,354 points) again exceeded -15%.

Piraeus shares slid -3.42% and EUR 3.42 (3-month low), Alpha shares narrowed to -3.66% and EUR 1.37 (12-month low), Eurobank shares traded -1.40% and EUR 1.901, while National Bank shares fell -1.02% and EUR 7.19.

In the high-cap index (-1.28% and 3,341 points), Motor Oil shares, despite a 0.3 euro preference, fell -4.1% and 19.3 euros, marking a new 22-month low. Ellaktor, Cenergy, Viohalco and Elvalhalcor retreated between 2% and 3%, with shares of Coca-Cola, Helleniq Energy, Titan, Aegean, AIA and OPAP trailing at least -1%. Conversely, Metlen shares gained +1.2% and approached EUR 33, while Sarantis followed at +0.9%.

As for the mid-cap index (-1.90% and 2,249 points), Intrakat's shares stood out negatively at -3.9%. Fourlis and Intralot retreated more than -3%. At the same time, shares of Techniki Olympiacos, PPA, Kri Kri, Intracom, ADMIE, AVAX, Quest and Profile fell by at least 2%, while shares of Austriacard, Dimand, Lavipharm, Trade Estates, EXAE, EYATH and Thrace Plastics were down 1%. Today, meanwhile, the curtain fell on the trading of Attica Bank's option, which closed at EUR 1.495 (-99.18%).
