AIA, the management company of Eleftherios Venizelos Airport, announced strong results for the first nine months of the year.

According to the announcement, revenues were boosted by 9.8% to €509 million due to a significant increase in passenger traffic, which reached 24.6 million passengers, up 13.3%. The significant increase in passenger traffic and successful commercial growth contributed to both airline and Non-Airline Activities.

  • Adjusted EBITDA amounted to €339.9 million, an increase of 16.9% compared to the first nine months of 2023, as a result of strong revenue growth, operational efficiency and high adjusted EBITDA margins (66.8%).
  • Profit After Taxes increased by €6.4 million to €195.1 million, an increase of 3.4% compared to EUR 188.7 million in the first nine months of the previous year

PASSENGER TRAFFIC

Overall, in the first nine (9) months of the year, airport traffic totalled 24.6 million passengers, an increase of 13.3%. Athens International Airport experienced dynamic growth in passenger traffic, with the number of passengers exceeding the already strong levels of the 2023 summer peak season (July-SSeptember) by 9.8%, indicative of the consistently strong demand for leisure air travel and the ever-increasing trend of the travelling public to seek and prioritise spending on experiential experiences. At the same time, it confirms the resilience and attractiveness of Athens as a top tourist destination, as well as AIA's successful strategy for the development of the network of destinations served, while at the same time taking advantage of the development plans of domestic and international carriers.

In detail, both domestic and international passenger traffic increased by 7.3% and 16.0%, respectively, achieving at the same time a significant increase in each quarter of the current year compared to the previous one (%2024/2023: T1: +16.5%, T2: +15.7%, T3: +9.8%). The percentage increase is gradually decelerating, reflecting the strong passenger traffic dynamics already observed since 2023.
