€5.5 million contract for the restoration of the 2 entrances of OAKA
A contract with a total value of €5,584 million was signed on Friday, November 1st, between the President of the Board of Directors of OAKA, Ioanna Batsos and the representative of the contractor company, TOMI Dimitris Pagratis.

A contract with a total value of €5,584 million was signed on Friday, November 1st, between the President of the Board of Directors of OAKA, Ioanna Batsos and the representative of the contractor company, "TOMI ABETE," Dimitris Pagratis.

The contract provides for maintenance, repair and restoration of construction defects at the two entrances of OAKA and is expected to be completed within 6 months.

In particular, the interventions include: 

α) At the Wall of Nations, inspection work includes testing important parts of the structure without damaging them, fixing broken welds, making sure the cavity beam system is supported, fixing structural flaws, making sure the main beam is waterproof, and painting the metal surfaces again.

(b) In the Market, the performance of inspection work with non-destructive testing of critical elements of the structure, repair of defective welds, repair of structural defects and repainting of metal surfaces, 

c) In the two Entrance Canopies, the performance of inspection works with non-destructive testing of critical elements of the structure, repair of defective welds, restoration of structural defects and repainting of metal surfaces. 

(d) issuance of necessary building permits, if required.

Present at the signing of the contract were the Deputy Minister of Sports, Yannis Vroutsis, the Executive Advisor of the Hellenic Investment Fund, Panagiotis Stamboulidis, the Coordinating Director General of OAKA, Konstantinos Chalioris and members of the Fund's Strategic Procurement Facility (PPF) and the Technical Directorate of OAKA who make up the project teams. 

The Deputy Minister of Sports, Yannis Vroutsis, underlined: "As the government we are implementing our commitment, we are gradually utilizing the €111 million from the Recovery Fund for all the necessary works at OAKA and our emblematic Olympic Centre of Greece, where the heart of our sport beats, will shine again. Within the next three years it will once again be transformed into a jewel, a landmark not only of sport but also of culture and entertainment, as it deserves, as it deserves in our society.".

Panagiotis Stamboulidis, Executive Advisor to the ΗRADF said: "The signing of the €5.5 million contract for the upgrade of the two entrances of OAKA is another step towards the modernisation of the country's most emblematic sports infrastructure. The PPF continues to complete critical tenders with efficiency, transparency and speed in order for OAKA to regain the position it deserves as an international centre of culture and sport, with multiple national and economic benefits."


OAKA's Coordinating General Manager, Konstantinos Halioris, said: "Today marks a new beginning for OAKA, focusing on renovation and environmental sustainability. We respect its history and are taking actions that will make it more environmentally friendly and modern, ensuring that it continues to be a benchmark for generations to come."
