The Greek stock market welcomed the re-election of Donald Trump as President of the United States with a rally. The US election continued to monopolize the interest of global markets, where Athens is tuning in to the general market outburst.
Specifically, in Wednesday's (6/11) session, the General Index "climbed" by +1.17% to 1,415.99 points, with a daily high of 1,424.79 points and a daily low of 1,412.85 points.
Tonight the announcements on the restructuring of the MSCI indices are expected. As for the main index for Greek equities (MSCI Greece Standard Index), it is composed of the following 9 stocks: National Bank, Piraeus, Alpha Bank, Eurobank, PPC, OTE, OPAP, Metlen and Jumbo. Last August, Motor Oil was removed (moved to Small Cap), while Titan's upgrade "collects" reduced chances. The changes, if made, will take effect after the markets close on Monday, 25 November.
Gains +2.1% for the banking index, which is trading at 1,221.73 points. The FTSE 25 (high cap) is up +1.41% at 3,436.69 points and the Mid Cap (mid cap) is up +0.07% at 2,269.05 points.
The value of transactions stands at EUR 55.9 million, of which EUR 6.087 million is for packages. Piraeus has a gross turnover of more than 10 million euros. The market capitalisation amounts to EUR 107,921 billion. Positive signs for 75 stocks, negative signs for 26, while 8 stocks remain unchanged.
Alpha Bank is leading the systemic banks with a gain of +2.76% at 1.4535 euros, followed by Eurobank (+2.49%) at 2.019 euros, Piraeus (+2.38%) at 3.742 euros, and Ethniki (+1.68%) at 7.644 euros.
In high capitalization, Titan is climbing +3% to 34 euros, heading for new record highs. Cenergy Holdings, Metlen, PPC, PPC Jumbo, Coca-Cola, HELLENiQ ENERGY, GEK TERNA, Hellaktor, Lamda Development and Aegean are also notable rises. In contrast, OTE is down -1.4%, followed by Autohellas at -1.1%.
In the mid-cap sector, Lavipharm rallies +3.1%. Profile jumps almost +2%, approaching its all-time high, boosted by the Norwegian "landing" in the IT company (Norges Bank now owns more than 5% of the share capital). At +2.2% and a breath away from 14 euros and new records, Kri Kri, which is also benefiting from its moves in the US,. On the flip side, PPA corrects -2.8% after previously "chasing" prices not seen in 16 years. A -2% fall for Intralot, which is "teetering" on the psychological threshold of EUR 1.
