The outlook for Sklavenitis in 2023 was positive, according to sources close to the company, as for another year the company remained faithful to its growth plan, prioritizing its customers and employees.
More specifically, in 2023, the turnover of the Sklavenitis Group (Greek Hypermarkets Sklavenitis, Sklavenitis Cyprus, Chalkiadakis, THE MART) amounted to €5.16 billion compared to €4.47 billion in 2022).
Pre-tax profit amounted to €135.4 million (2.6% of total turnover). Investments amounted to €140 million in 2023. As of 31/12/2023, the number of employees was 36,766, while it is currently 39,042.
Hellenic Hypermarkets Sklavenitis (EYS) reported sales of €4.3 billion in 2023 (up from €3.7 billion in 2022). Profit before tax amounted to €112.6 million (2.6% of total turnover). Investments amounted to €119 million in 2023 and are expected to reach €130 million in 2024. As of 31/12/2023, the number of employees was 31,863, while it is currently 33,189.
According to sources close to the company, the excellent service and high traffic maintained by the company, as well as the gradual de-escalation of energy prices compared to 2022, contributed to the achievement of the above results. It should be noted that in the previous year, EYS created 2,050 new jobs, employing a total of 31,863 in December 2023 (up from 29,814 in December 2022), with total payroll exceeding €615 million.
