For Cero Generation in the Castilla-León region of Palencia, Metlen in Spain has commissioned three photovoltaic projects with a combined capacity of 160MWp.

The project additionally includes the integrated development and construction of underground medium-voltage lines, connecting each switching station to the existing substation with a total length of approximately 18 km, as well as the provision of operation and maintenance (O&M) services for two years.

All projects (Grijota III, IV and V) are expected to provide over 307 GWh of "green" energy per year, sufficient to power nearly 95,000 homes, while preventing the emission of over 110,000 metric tons of CO2. At the same time, more than 150 people will be employed in the construction of these projects, creating local jobs during the construction phase.

According to the company's announcement, Metlen's selection to implement these projects strengthens its position in the Spanish market as a provider of competitive solutions across the entire solar energy spectrum in the Iberian Peninsula, increasing its portfolio of around 700 MW of photovoltaics already built in Spain to over 1 GW by 2025.

Nikos Papapetrou, Executive Director of M Renewables, METLEN Energy & Metals, said, "We are very pleased to be working with Cero Generation on this very important project. METLEN is an international company specialising in large-scale solar energy and energy storage projects, providing reliable solutions across the full spectrum of construction, from stand-alone projects to complex hybrid systems. METLEN is the preferred partner for photovoltaic projects for leading companies around the world, and it is a pleasure to work with Cero Generation, continuing our successful track record in the Iberian Peninsula and contributing to the environmental goals set."

Cero Generation is a leading power generation company (IPP) specialising in the development, construction and operation of solar energy and energy storage projects, accelerating the achievement of a zero-emission future across Europe, the statement said. The projects with Cero Generation add to METLEN's notable partnerships in Spain, including but not limited to Ellomay, Nexwell, Sonnedix and Aquila.
