CONDITIONALITY FOR CONNECTION TERMS

Speaking at the 6th Renewable & Storage Forum, Sotiris Kapellos, Chief Operating Officer of Helleniq Energy, noted that the process for connection terms takes several months, putting pressure on investors, as equipment can only be ordered after the connection contract has been signed. He said that the permitting process needs to be accelerated and the relevant deadlines extended, as the problem will be even more acute for investors who have projects approved in the 3rd RAEY tender. In the same vein, Nikos Kavvadias, Director of Industrial Controls and Renewable Energy Sources at TÜV AUSTRIA Hellas, estimated that there are currently 50 GW in the stand-alone system that have received certification from RAAEY and need to move forward with implementation, which starts with the connection terms.
