Encouraging are the figures for travel receipts in September, which after two months of decline recorded an increase, improving the balance of services to €3.6 billion, according to Bank of Greece data.

Specifically, compared to September 2023, non-resident traveler arrivals increased by 6.6% and related receipts by 7.9%. Compared to the period January–September 2023, non-resident traveler arrivals increased by 9.3% and related receipts by 4.1%, reaching 19.6 billion euros.

However, in September 2024, the current account deficit recorded a slight increase compared to the same month in 2023, due to a deterioration in the goods balance, partly offset by an improvement in the services, primary and, to a lesser extent, secondary income balances.

In January-September 2024, the current account deficit widened compared with the same period in 2023, due to a deterioration in the goods balance and, to a lesser extent, the primary income balance, partly offset by an improvement mainly in the secondary income balance and the services balance.
