The Bank of Greece and the Hellenic Capital Market Commission proceeded to strengthen the framework of their cooperation by signing a relevant Protocol of Cooperation.
The Protocol was signed yesterday, 25/11/2024, at the Central Building of the Bank of Greece by the Governor of the Bank of Greece, Yannis Stournaras, and the President of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Vasiliki Lazarakou.
The new Cooperation Protocol replaces the previous one of 2009 in order to clearly define the way of cooperation, exchange of information, and mutual assistance between the two authorities in order to ensure the best possible exercise of their respective competences and duties, taking into account the most recent provisions of the legislation in force and the already strong culture of synergy between the two authorities.
The main arrangements provided for in the protocol include:
- Supervisory and regulatory issues, as well as issues related to financial sector resolution and statistical reporting,
- the specification of the form and general cooperation between the two parties,
the channels and frequency of communication and exchange of information, - cooperation and consultation on regulatory issues,
- the carrying out of on-the-spot checks,
- the holding of meetings between their representatives.
