Helleniq Energy has submitted a bid for the acquisition of 50% of Elpedison, according to market sources, but the amount has not been disclosed, while Edison's response is expected within the next two weeks.
DIFFERENT STRATEGIES
We recall that Helleniq Energy CEO Andreas Siamisis, speaking to analysts after the publication of the group's financial results, had placed the closure of the case within the next 1-2 months.
As he had said, developments will be immediate, as discussions are already underway with Edison to either buy its stake or dispose of its own. In addition, he had stressed that the partnership with Edison is very good, providing mutual benefits for the past 15 years.
"However, the two sides have different strategies; as much as we want to be partners, our strategies are different, and a decision has to be taken in the interest of both parties and our shareholders," he had said.
NEXT STEPS
With the submission of the proposal, Edison will have to decide whether it agrees with the proposal or whether to proceed with a counter-offer, which according to the terms of the tender must be at least 5% higher than the price proposed by Helleniq. If the Italian company proceeds with this step, then it will be the turn of the Greek side to decide whether to proceed with a new improved price or to accept it.
