Unemployment fell to 9% in the third quarter
Unemployment in the country fell by 8.4% in the July-September period compared to the immediately preceding quarter, according to ELSTAT data.

Unemployment in the country fell by 8.4% in the July-September period compared to the immediately preceding quarter, according to ELSTAT data. Also, compared to the same period in 2023, unemployment fell by 16.8%.

Finally, the unemployment rate in the third quarter fell even lower than the 10% bar set for this year to 9%. In Q2, it stood at 9.8%, while in Q3, it was 10.8%. This year's July-September period recorded 428,424 unemployed individuals in absolute numbers.

Meanwhile, according to ELSTAT data, the number of employed persons stood at 4,323,859, showing a decrease of 0.1% compared to the previous quarter and an increase of 1.6% compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

Persons not included in the labour force, or "persons outside the labour force," i.e., persons neither working nor looking for work, amounted to 4,263,142. In particular, persons outside the labour force under 75 years of age amounted to 3,031,115. Their share increased by 1.2% compared to the previous quarter and remained unchanged compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
