Four flagship investments with a budget of €253 million have been approved by the Inter-ministerial Committee for Strategic Investments in the framework of the implementation of the new production model of the country presented on 21 October.

These four flagship investments, implemented through the General Secretariat for Private Investment, concern the defence industry, the self-sufficiency of our country in paper and alcohol, and the safety of flights and civil protection services.

In particular, METLEN's €45 million strategic investment includes new building infrastructure and specialised mechanical equipment in the region of Thessaly. The aim is to produce special metal structures with advanced technology and high added value.

BGS' strategic investment of €34 million aims at establishing an integrated plant for the production and distribution of agricultural ethyl alcohol for multiple uses. The vertically integrated unit will be located in the Patras business park, while the strengthening of domestic production of ethyl alcohol will reduce imports by Greek producers.

Olympic's strategic investment of €74.75 million is part of a larger investment of more than €140 million. It concerns the creation of an integrated aircraft and flight maintenance service centre and a flight simulator and crew training centre within the El. Venizelos.".

Finally, INTERTRADE's €99 million strategic investment, which was approved in May 2023, aims to expand the capacity of an existing facility, which will be implemented in Oinofita. It seeks the functional consolidation of all the company's production units in one location. In addition, a central warehouse and modern distribution infrastructure for finished products and paper rolls will be created.

It is noted that the Chairman of the Commission is the Minister of Development Takis Theodoricakos, and its members are the Minister of National Economy and Finance Costas Hatzidakis, the Minister of Environment and Energy Theodoros Skylakakis, the Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni, the Minister of State Makis Voridis, and the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Nikos Papathanasis.
