The Athens Stock Exchange starts the new year cautiously upwards, while investors remain "dazed" by the New Year's Eve celebrations.
Although today's session is not the most suitable for taking unnecessary risk, the Greek market continues to "trim" the distance from the target of 1,502 points, which is the best level in the last 13 years (since 2011).
In any case, the main objective for 2025 is to continue the upward movement for the 5th consecutive year, with "vehicle" attractive valuations and generous dividends. However, no one can ignore the environment of high uncertainties and market fatigue.
Specifically, in the first session of the year, the General Index is up marginally by +0.10% to 1,471.07 points, gaining just 1.5 points compared to Tuesday's close (1,469.67 points).
The arc of the daily fluctuations extends over three points (from 1,469.79 to 1,472.38 points), with the turnover of the transactions ranging at 2.3 million in the first 15 minutes.
On the board, now, Piraeus is trying to stand out, recovering 3.9 euros. Metlen follows with a remarkable 1% rise. For its part, Hellaktor continues to climb, while Titan corrects slightly below 40 euros.
The banking index enters 2025 with a positive outlook, currently standing at +0.83% and 1,296 points, which bridges the gap from the recent highs of 1,348 points.
Piraeus shares are up +1.30% and EUR 3.90, ΝΒG shares are up +0.52% and EUR 7.70, Alpha shares are trading +0.49% and EUR 1.625, while Eurobank shares are almost unchanged at EUR 2.231.
In the high-cap index (+0.36% and 3,583 points), Metlen shares gain +1.1% and approach 34 euros. ELVALHALKOR and Helleniq Energy expand by 1%, while HELLAKTOR's share continues to climb after the decision for a new capital return, resulting in +1.7% and 2.27 euros. On the flip side, OTE's share price retracts by 0.8%. Titan Cement shares correct slightly below 40 euros (-0.6%).
As for the mid-cap index (+0.49% and 2,345 points), AVAX shares climb +3.4% and 1.57 euros, with Kri Kri shares gaining 2.6% to 15.4 euros. Thrace Plastics, Intracom and Autohellas follow with a rise of more than +1%. On the other hand, Intrakat's shares are down -1% and EUR 4.82, pending the EUR 200 million AMK. Ideal and Austriacard are down almost 0.7%.
