The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport has announced that it is covering the financing of all the studies for the tendering of the project "Central Road Axis of North Evia, Section: Bypass of Psahna-Prokopi (Strofylia)," the responsibility for which is assumed by the Region of Central Greece.

In particular, following consultations with the local authorities and, in particular, the Region of Sterea Ellada, the Regional Unit of Evia, and related municipalities, it was agreed to transfer to the Region of Sterea Ellada the responsibility for the maturation of the studies (drafting and approval), as well as the preparatory process and the permits required for the tender of the project.

For this purpose and in addition to the above-mentioned competence, the Region of Sterea Ellada will also be granted, from the Public Investment Programme of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, the necessary funding for the tendering of all the studies related to the aforementioned project, amounting to 7.9 million euros (including VAT).

It is noted that this study concerns the construction of a road axis of key importance for the interconnection of North Evia with the wider area of Chalkida and, by extension, with the rest of the mainland through the High Bridge of Chalkida.

The purpose of the project, as stated in the announcement, is to ensure, in combination with the other key project of the Chalkida Bypass, a significant shortening of road routes, essentially improving the level of road safety.
