Elektor, through a joint venture, has signed with PPC the contract "Design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of a High Efficiency Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Unit with natural gas internal combustion engines (ICE), with a useful thermal power ≥ 65MWth at the facilities of Kardia NPP".
As stated by the CEO of Elektor Mr. Nikolaos Stathakis: "This project is of great importance for the region of Western Macedonia as it will ensure the uninterrupted supply of thermal energy to the district heating network in the post-lignite period".
The amendment for the district heating of Western Macedonia is in Parliament.
The construction budget of the project amounts to approximately €65.6 million (not including VAT), while the contractual duration of construction and trial operation is 22 months, from the date of signing the Contract. The contract scope includes long-term maintenance of the main equipment for a period of 8 years.
The plant consists of seventeen (17) Internal Combustion Engines with a total electrical power of 76,262 kWe and a total thermal power of 66,391 kWth for the purpose of its interconnection with the unified district heating system of Western Macedonia.
