The Athens Stock Exchange remained in positive territory for the second consecutive day, while buyers took the General Index back to the 1,500 points milestone.

The Athens Stock Exchange remained in positive territory for the second consecutive day, while buyers took the General Index back to the 1,500 points milestone.

With banks and PPC being the main "protagonists" and the buying party in Europe and the US providing significant "fuel", the Greek market managed to "return" to the highest levels of the last 14 years, with the market capitalization steadily exceeding 105 billion euros.

Specifically, in the third session of the new week, the General Index posted a "measured" increase of +0.67% to 1,503.18 points, gaining 10 points compared to Tuesday's close (1,493.11 points).

The arc of daily fluctuations was fixed at 11 points (from 1,492.28 to 1,503.47 points), with a turnover of 127.8 million euros, of which 29.9 million euros related to pre-agreed packages. 

The banking index, which is the "protagonist" of January (+6.2%), set the tone for today's rise, finishing +1.23% and 1,366 points, which is a new 9-year high.

Piraeus shares gained +2.14% and €4.198, Alpha shares followed at +1.73% and €1.73, Eurobank shares traded +0.30% and €2.34, while NBG shares rose +1.35% and €8.128.

In the high-cap index (+0.78% and 3,656 points), PPC shares climbed +2% and approached multi-year highs of 12.7 euros. The shares of ELVALHALKOR jumped +3.7%, which continued its 2025 rally and "flew" to 2.21 euros. Cenergy, Viohalco and AIA expanded by more than 1%, while Titan Cement shares closed up +1.2% at 42 euros, reaching a new all-time high (for the 2nd consecutive day). On the flip side, Jumbo shares folded -1.1% and EUR 25.2.

As for the mid-cap index (+0.07% and 2,423 points), the shares of ADMIE stood out positively at +2.5% and 2.8 euros, representing a new 4-year high. Quest and Lavipharm rose by 1.9% and 0.9%, respectively, with Austriacard's shares continuing their climb above 6 euros, rising 1% and closing at 6.1 euros (8-month high). On the other hand, Autohellas shares slid 2.1%, the shares of EXAE lost 1% and Intralot shares retreated 0.9%.
