The Athens Stock Exchange remained above 1,500 points, with buyers maintaining the "reins" for the third consecutive session and restoring the positive sign at the weekly level.

With the "vehicle" of the change of psychology in Europe and Wall Street, the Greek market continued the alcyonid days of January, which shows a return of at least +2.5%. The result is that Athens is firmly at its highest levels since April 2011 (14-year high).

On the other hand, however, the inability to manifest a clear upward escape "testifies" to the need to find new "fuel" in order to enable the approach of 1,550-1,600 points, which, according to analysts, is the next big target.

Specifically, in the fourth session of the week, the General Index recorded a cautious increase of +0.24% to 1,506.83 points, gaining 3.6 points compared to Wednesday's close (1,503.18 points).

The arc of daily fluctuations was fixed at just eight points (from 1,501.82 to 1,509.62 points), with a turnover of 117.7 million euros, of which 32.4 million euros related to pre-agreed packages.

The banking index, which is the big winner in January, continued to accumulate at 9-year highs, ending up +0.68% and 1,375 points.

Eurobank shares widened to +1.79% and EUR 2.382 (high since November '15), ΝΒG shares followed at +0.39% and EUR 8.16, Piraeus shares traded +0.41% and EUR 4.215, while Alpha shares were unchanged at EUR 1.73.

A special mention should be made of Bank of Cyprus, whose shares soared +3.54% and exceeded 4.9 euros in an attempt to recover last year's highs of 5 euros.

In the high-cap index (+0.25% and 3,665 points), Coca-Cola's shares managed to move above 32.5 euros, as they expanded by at least +1.6% and offered valuable support. On the other hand, Metlen's shares remained almost unchanged at 33 euros, despite the announcement of the mega investment in Boeotia. Aegean, Sarantis and ELVALHALKOR were limited to around -1.5%, while Cenergy's shares slipped -2.4% to EUR 9.6. Helleniq Energy, Viohalco, Hellaktor and Motor Oil followed from -0.6% to -0.9%.

As for the mid-cap index (-0.31% and 2,415 points), shares of ADMIE corrected from yesterday's highs (EUR 2.83), falling -0.7% and EUR 2.81. Quest, Intracom, PPA and Thrace Plastics lost -0.6% to -0.9%, while Ideal shares fell -1.8% and EUR 5.9. In contrast, Dimand's shares rose +0.7% to +0.7% and 8.26 euros. Aktor Group's shares followed at +0.6%.
