All the public sector entities subject to tax have successfully completed their registration in the Register of Persons Subject to the Annual Income File for the Pre-completion and Submission of Individual Income Tax Returns. The successful completion of this procedure forms the basis of the new system of tax returns, which will now start every year on 15 March and will be completed within predetermined deadlines on 15 July.
In detail, entities had until Wednesday, 15 January, to complete their registration in the Register in the digital portal "myAADE" of the Independent Public Revenue Authority (A.A.D.E.). On the platform, the liable entities declared, among other things, the responsible natural persons of each entity in order to ensure the correct and timely sending of the required data for the pre-completion of tax returns.
The Ministry of National Economy and Finance, as of November 19, 2024, proceeded with multiple rounds of information and communication with all relevant entities and their supervisors on the procedure and the obligation to register in the Registry. With the establishment of the Registry and the registration of all public entities, a critical first step has been successfully completed as part of the rationalization and streamlining of the tax return filing process.
Thereafter, by February 28, 2025, public entities must transmit to the AADE the necessary data for cross-checking and pre-filling in their income tax returns. It is stressed that, in case of errors, there is the possibility of resubmitting the correct records up to the above date.
It is recalled that for the first time, a clear and predetermined time frame for the submission of tax returns has been established with clear timelines and obligations for the entities and responsible persons, as well as fines for those who do not send the data on time or send them with a large number of inaccurate data. In this way, the state aims to address in practice pathologies, bureaucratic rigidities and issues that have arisen with pending issues, tensions, extensions, postponements and delays that have been plaguing citizens and the competent authorities over time.
