After 23 years of success at Vodafone, including the last nine as CEO of Vodafone Greece, Charis Broumidis is to step down at the end of March. Achilleas Kanaris, CEO of Vodafone Romania, will be the new CEO of Vodafone Greece from 1 April 2025.

As CEO, according to a statement, Mr. Brumidis transformed Vodafone Greece from a pure telecommunications company to a technology organisation and a strong converged provider through strategic mergers and acquisitions. He launched Vodafone TV, which has now evolved into a destination with top-quality content for the whole family, and, with a focus on customer needs and network experience, led the company to significant growth.

Under his leadership, Vodafone Greece created its own fixed network and became the first operator to deploy a large-scale FTTH network. Charis Broumidis pioneered Vodafone Greece's efforts to contribute to the digitization of the country and Greek businesses, expanding ICT services and securing major public projects. At the same time, as head of the Vodafone Foundation in Greece, he has shown great dedication to the Foundation's programs, which have been instrumental in supporting Greek society.

Mr. Kanaris joined Vodafone Greece as Director of Consumer Sales and served as Director of Commercial Consumer Products until 2017, when he led the deal for the acquisition of Hellas Online and its rebranding. After his tenure in Greece, he took over as CEO at Vodafone Albania, leading the company to a performance recovery, completing the acquisition and integration of the country's second largest fixed and pay-TV provider, and making Vodafone Albania a converged market leader.

As CEO of Vodafone Romania, Mr. Kanaris has put in place a recovery plan to restore the company's competitive position, restore it to growth through diversification of its activities, and ensure structural changes in the market to ensure a healthier and more sustainable telecommunications market in Romania.

Since the launch of this project, Vodafone Romania has experienced steady growth with double-digit margin expansion and market share growth, has become the largest ICT project completer in Romania with flagship projects supporting the country's digitalization, and has gained a leading position among operators in the handset market. In addition, pending approvals from the relevant regulatory authorities, Vodafone is expected to lead the consolidation of the domestic market with the acquisition of a significant stake in Telekom Romania, which will put the company on a path of stability, long-term growth and investment.
