The Athens Stock Exchange returned to an upward trajectory today (28/1), with investors accumulating forces before trying to break the 1,550 resistance level.
Somehow, in the second session of the week, the General Index posted a "measured" increase of +0.37% to 1,545.62 points, gaining 5.7 points from Monday's close (1,539.88 points).
The arc of daily fluctuations was fixed at ten points (from 1,539.31 to 1,549.16 points), with a turnover of 134.0 million euros, of which 11.3 million euros related to pre-agreed packages.
The banking index, which yesterday provided significant support to the Greek market, ran out of... strength and accumulated to 9-year highs, ending up +0.16% and 1,421 points.
Eurobank shares widened to +0.83% and 4.43 euros, Piraeus shares followed at +0.27% and 4.48 euros, Alpha shares were almost unchanged at 1.78 euros, while NBG shares fell -0.31% and 8.40 euros.
In the high-cap index (+0.56% and 3,776 points), PPC shares climbed +1.9% and 13.1 euros, their highest point in 15 years. Metlen, ELVALHALKOR, Viocalco, Coca-Cola, Aegean, Motor Oil and OPAP expanded by at least 1%, while OTE shares rose dynamically to +2.3% and 14.9 euros. On the flip side, Titan Cement's shares corrected from historic highs as they folded to -3.3% and 43.5 euros. This, despite indications of a strong financial result in FY12 (sales of EUR 2.6 billion and profit of EUR 300 million) and the confirmation of the intention to raise up to USD 496 million from the placement of 24 + 3.6 million Titan America shares on Wall Street.
As for the mid-cap index (-0.05% and 2,470 points), the Fourlis share stood out by +4%, returning above 4.1 euros and generating a turnover of 704 thousand euros. ADMIE and Lavipharm followed at +1.5% and +0.9%, respectively. On the other hand, PPA shares corrected to -1.1% and EUR 31.1, while Ideal shares retreated to -1.1% and EUR 6.0. Autohellas shares plunged by around 2%, with Quest and Intralot shares following at -0.9%.
