In Greece, 9.81% of businesses use AI tools, compared to 14.7% and 12.4% in Sweden and Denmark, which are at the top of the European Union in this respect. As stated in an article published by BIG DATA, a website specialising in technological issues, this lag reflects a less mature Greek technological ecosystem, but Greece has almost tripled the rate of adoption of AI in a year, having recorded an annual increase of 5.83%.

As far as the technologies most used by Greek companies are concerned, it is reported that text mining is at the top. This technology, used by 6.9% of companies, has seen a significant increase of 4 percentage points compared to the previous year. In second place, natural language generation (NLG) is used by 5.4% of companies. This technology, capable of producing written or spoken content, has increased by 3.3 percentage points in one year. Finally, voice recognition, which converts spoken language into a form that can be read and used by machines, has attracted 4.8% of Greek companies. This sector has also seen an increase, with an increase of 2.2 percentage points.

The website notes that these developments highlight the efforts of Greek companies to incorporate artificial intelligence tools capable of transforming their operations and improving their efficiency. It also notes that these technologies make it possible to increase innovation, improve internal processes and meet specific needs, particularly in the areas of customer service, data analysis and content management. However, it says that gradual adoption is still hampered by structural challenges such as lack of technological investment, lack of skilled talent, and limited awareness of the importance of AI for competitiveness.

To catch up, Greece should invest more in technology education, digital infrastructure and public-private partnerships, the website notes.

Finally, it notes that, despite its lagging behind, Greece is providing encouraging signs of adoption of artificial intelligence and that, with the right framework, Greece could not only catch up with advanced European countries in this area but also exploit its untapped potential in this regard to become one of Europe's emerging players.
