A report by Piraeus Securities refers to the catalysts for the rise of the domestic stock market. According to the analysts, the main factors that will lead to a rise in the market are:
- The growth of the Greek economy above the Eurozone average
- The reduction of public debt above the above-average level of the eurozone average.
- A change in the status of the Athens Stock Exchange to a "developed market"
- The growth of the banking sector due to the increase in profitability, dividends, and improvement in the quality of banks' assets
- The attractive valuations of banks
AT A DISCOUNT OF MORE THAN 20%
"The banking sector continues to trade at a discount of over 20% to its European peers in terms of P/TBVPS multiples. Also, high profitability on attractive multiples will be the other important element. We forecast a marginal decline in EPS (by around 1%) for the companies we track, which account for 85% of total market capitalisation in 2025, impacted by banks and refiners, followed by an 8% EPS increase in 2026," the analysts said.
