Dream Workers, the Thessaloniki-based Greek company that designs theme parks in Greece, such as the "Elves' Mill" in Trikala, the "Dream City of Drama," the "Chocolate Factory and Museum," the "Kri Kri Ice Cream Factory," the "Eco Zoo," etc. The company attracted the interest of a major investment group of Greek and foreign entrepreneurs, who proceeded to acquire a 35% share of Dream Workers' share capital.
The acquisition was carried out through the new joint venture Dreamland Experience, which includes the iconic international businessman Marco Drago, who is honorary chairman of the historic Italian company De Agostini Group, and the well-known Greek businessman Makis Angelopoulos.
This is a move that opens the way for Dream Workers to expand globally, as underlined, given that its main objective is to enter international markets with excellent and highly modern models of themed experience spaces. The first stops for the new parks abroad will be Italy and Spain. At the same time, however, the landscape is also changing in the domestic market, as Dreamland Experience's entry comes along with plans to create new state-of-the-art family entertainment spaces and model theme parks in important and topical areas of Greece.
The business agreement is based on the common understanding between the two parties on the positive prospects of the theme park sector, which in Greece will welcome millions of visitors annually.
The first phase of the company's restructuring and development plan is based on a thorough study of the dynamics, prospects and opportunities of the sector and will be presented in the near future. Among other things, it includes the development of theme parks in some of the top locations in Athens and Thessaloniki, as well as the further upgrading of SUNEL Arena with the redevelopment of the Olympic Center, which hosts the AEK BC, which will become a top entertainment destination for young and old visitors.
The first exploratory contacts leading to the current acquisition started in 2023, and subsequently all necessary legal and financial checks were carried out, with the two sides reaching a full agreement at the end of 2024.
Makis Angelopoulos, shareholder of Dreamland Experience, said: "I am completely satisfied with the agreement and with the trust and participation of the great businessman Mr. Marco Drago. Following the successful partnership, Dream Workers is proceeding according to our plan to immediately restructure its structure and start implementing a theme park plan, as it emerged from the results of a huge study for the development of family entertainment venues in Greece and abroad. Clearly, the "home" of basketball, AEK, could not be missing from this grand design."
Official announcements on the new parks to be implemented and the broader development plan are expected to be made immediately.
