"I have said many times that the definitive answer to punctuality is a permanent wage increase. It is our priority; it is a national goal," Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said in a post.
In it, after referring to the data of the Ergani system for employment growth, he stresses that "in 2027 in Greece the average wage should be 1,500 euros and the minimum at 950 euros.".
In his post, Mitsotakis said:
"I have said many times that the definitive answer to accuracy is a permanent increase in wages. It is our priority; it is a national goal. I read with great satisfaction the data of the annual report of the system "ERGANI," according to which the average wage in our country in 2024 amounted to 1,342 euros, recording an increase of 7.2% compared to 2023. An overall increase of 28.3% from 2019, when it was at 1,046 euros. At the same time, the minimum wage has increased from 650 euros in 2019 to 830 euros today, followed by a new increase in April.
On the employment front, full-time employment has been recorded at 76.4%, 1.6% above 2023 and a total of 7.2% above 2019. At the same time, the rate of job growth has doubled compared to the 2022-2023 period (93,312 additional workers compared to 47,246 additional workers). While the average full-time wage rose to €1,478 for December 2024.
All this makes us confident of achieving the target we set before the national elections: in 2027 in Greece, the average wage will be 1,500 euros and the minimum wage 950 euros."
