Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis

Kyriakos Mitsotakis is travelling to Paris today to participate in the Action Summit on Artificial Intelligence, organized by French President Emmanuel Macron on 10 and 11 February.

Today at noon the Prime Minister will meet with the French President and, according to government sources, the two leaders will have a comprehensive review of Greek-French relations and will discuss issues of European and regional interest, with the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean and Syria at the forefront.

The Action Summit on Artificial Intelligence, which is co-chaired by India—Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be present—is an international conference with invited heads of state and government from around the world, international organisations and major technology companies, notes Athens News Agency.

The same sources note that Greece is not watching or actively participating in the developments and the international dialogue on artificial intelligence at the highest level. The Prime Minister now has a coherent plan for AI in Greece, which was handed over to him by the Commission for Artificial Intelligence, headed by Costis Daskalakis, two months ago.

They add that with this excellent work as a starting point, the country is now entering the era of artificial intelligence with steady steps.

Already, two of the Commission's proposals are being implemented. Greece is one of the 7 countries in the EU that has been selected to undertake the creation of an AI factory, a place where AI applications will be developed and which will be a point of contact between the research community, businesses and the state.

The aim is for Greece to gradually be able to "export" applications and know-how. The annual Forum on Ethics and AI is also being implemented.
