Main opposition party Syriza elected on Sunday Stefanos Kasselakis as his new leader, in a run-off election. Kasselakis received 56.69% of the vote, against 43.31% for rival candidate Effie Achtsioglou.
A total of 133,261 out of about 188,000 eligible SYRIZA members voted, fewer than the 146,000 who turned up for the first round last Sunday.
Kasselakis, a 35 -year-old former CEO of a shipping company was an unconventional choice, as he lacks any prior political activity.
He stood as a candidate on the country-wide list in the May and June elections but he was not elected as MP.
