Greece’s Supreme Court has ordered on Wednesday an investigation into possible mismanagement in funding for anti-flooding works in the Thessaly region. 

 

Supreme Court Prosecutor Georgia Adeilini instructed the First-Instance Court prosecutors of Volos, Karditsa, Larissa and Trikala to investigate the possibility of "any ex officio prosecutable criminal acts,” in connection with the recent devastating floods in Thessaly.

 

Also, Adeilini ordered the First Instance prosecutors to investigate "what exact measures were taken by the regional authorities after the storm "Ianos" in 2020, as regards prevention, including anti-flooding works.
