Greek average interest rate on new loans rose by 12 basis points m-o-m in August to 6.33% while the interest rate on new deposits increased to 0.39%, up four basis points from the previous month, data from Bank of Greece showed.
The interest rate spread between new deposits and loans increased to 5.94%.
The average interest rate on housing loans at a floating rate fell by 16 basis points to 4.03%.
In August 2023, the average interest rate on new corporate loans with a defined maturity at a floating rate increased by 25 basis points to 6.35%. The average interest rate on loans with a defined maturity at a floating rate to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) increased by 33 basis points to 6.07%.
On the deposits side, the average interest rate on deposits from households with an agreed maturity of up to 1 year increased by 6 basis points to 1.56%.
