In a highly volatile session, stocks end marginally up led by bank gains
Shares edge marginally higher, led by bank gains which offset severe losses among non-financials. In its trading debut, Optima Bank ends flat in heavy volumes.

In a highly volatile session, stocks ended marginally up led by bank gains. In contrast, non-financials, except PPC, were hard-hit. Optima Bank made its trading debut on Wednesday, ending almost flat at 7.20 euros, in heavy volumes, reversing steep losses in early trade.

The general share index added 0.1% to close at 1170 points. Some 114 million euros worth of stocks exchanged hands. 

Banks rose 3.4%, led by Piraeus +5.1%, Eurobank +4%, NBG +2.7%, Alpha +2.3%.  

Away from financials, Mytilineos gave up 2.5%, Cenergy -2.4%, Motor Oil 2%. In contrast, PPC ended with gains of 2.1%.
