Stocks in Athens staged a strong rebound early Tuesday, after the recent sell-off. Europe’s recoveries lent assistance. 

“The market is oversold at these levels,” a Beta Securities analyst said, adding “that some bargain-hunting should be on cards.” 

At 1042 local time, the general share index was adding 2.2% to 1135 points. Banks outperformed, with gains slightly over 3%. 

Among individual stocks, Aegean rose 3.5%, PPC +3%, Helleniq Energy +2.3%.
