Greece’s EU-harmonised consumer price index stoo at 2.4% down from the annual rise of 3.5% in August, while the drop in the headline CPI index was more pronounced, at +1.6% from 2.7% in the previous month, statistics office ELSTAT said. Lower energy prices offset increases in food components.

On a monthly basis, both EU-harmonised index and national headline index rose 1.9% and 1.8%, respectively.

Comparing September 2023 with the year-ago month, natural gas dropped 82% y-o-y.  Electricity prices were down just 1.2%. In contrast, all food components rose sharply, with vegetables increasing 17.7% and oil +16%.
