Shares in Athens rose sharply in midday trade, on rotation into non-financials that have lagged the recent rally. Europe’s strong performances, with stocks hitting three-week highs on Thursday set the tone. Investors feel that the end for global rate hiking cycle is in sight.
At 1332 local time, the general share index gained 2.5% to close at 1205 points.
Among individual stocks, Ellaktor was up 6.5%, Helleniq Energy +5.1%, Viohalco +4.3%, Cenergy +3.9%.
Banks were gaining 2.7%, with Alpha and Eurobank rising 3% each.
