Equities in Athens ended slightly higher in choppy trade, with the share index visiting both territories during the session. Volumes were low, as most investors are sidelined amid prospects of an escalation in the Middle East conflict. Europe is mixed. Still, analysts believe that the prospects of the market remain positive, as S&P is likely to upgrade Greece to investment grade on October 20.
The general share index closed 0.4% higher to 1173 points. Turnover amounted to 67 million euros.
Banks outperformed the index, with gains of 1.2%. Eurobank added 1.5%, Piraeus +1.2%, Alpha +1%, NBG +0.8%.
Away from financials, Lamda Development firmed 3.3%, OTE +2.6%.
