Stocks close lower amid light volumes, reversing early gains

Shares in Athens closed down, reversing early gains following European bourses’ pattern which open stronger and gave up their gains during the session. Investors around the world are still tracking development in Gaza. U.S President Joe Biden will visit Israel on Wednesday. At home, investors’ cautiousness was reflected in thin volumes.
The general share index shed 0.3% to close ate 1170 points. Some 64 million euros worth of stocks exchanged hands.
Banks posted aggregate losses of 9.9%, with NBG shedding 1.8%.
Other notable decliners were Lamda -3%, Helleniq Energy -2.8%. In contrast, Aegean firmed 1.8%, Mytilineos and Motor Oil +1.4% each.
