Equities close slightly down, despite Europe's steep losses; Eyeing S&P
Shares end slightly down in Athens, but losses were milder compared to European peers which are deep in the red. Investors are awaiting S&P’s verdict on Greece.

Stocks closed slightly down in Athens, but losses were milder compared to European peers which are deep in the red. Investors are awaiting S&P’s verdict on Greece’s economic shape in today’s rating review. A one-notch upgrade will lift the country’s ratings to investment grade status. Banks posted mild aggregate gains, in an otherwise trendless session. 

The general share index shed 0.3% to close at 1175 points. Volumes rose to 116 million euros. 

Notable decliners were Aegean -3.2%, Ellaktor -1.8%, Viohalco -1.8%, PPC -1.4%. In contrast, Mytilineos added 1.8%.
