Stocks in Athens traded flat early Wednesday, taking a breather after Alpha’s hectic rally on the back of the mega-deal with Unicredit which sent the borader market sharply higher. Europe fell slightly on mixed earnings reports. 

“We expect ATHEX to follow the international trends, following yesterday’s rebound,” Optima Bank Research wrote in its daily comment. 

At 1052 local time, the general share index was flat at 1196 points. Some mild profit-taking in banks, sent the sector’s subindex 0.3% lower. Alpha lost 0.6% after Monday’s gains of over 14%. 

Elsewhere, OTE was up 0.7%, while Viohalco shed 1.1%.
