Equities closed lower but contained earlier losses , despite domestic positive news flow. Europe ended in the red, amid a slew of weak corporate earnings. The global rise in bond yields is also hanging over markets. At home, Mytilineos reported the biggest quarterly profits rise in its history, while PPC concluded the acquisition of Enel Romania. 

The general share index shed 0.7% to close at 1177 points. Turnover amounted to 97 million euros. 

Banks limited their losses to -0.2%, with NBG losing 1.5%, Piraeus -1.2%, Alpha -0.7%. 

Also, Aegean gave up 2.6%,  Jumbo -2.3%.
