Stock pickers send market higher in low-volume trade
Equities closed higher on Monday, amid low volumes. European shares were higher despite ongoing volatility in the Middle East.

Equities closed higher on Monday, amid low volumes. European shares were higher despite ongoing volatility in the Middle East. At home, the week will be busy with third quarter earnings releases. Coca Cola HBC, Helleniq Energy, Alpha Bank and Piraeus will report third quarter earnings performance this week. 

The general share index added 0.6% to close at 1186 points. Some 58 million euros worth of stocks exchanged hands. 

Among banks, Alpha added 1% to close at 1.415 euros. Unicredit has offered to HFSF 1.33 euros per share for the 9% stake. 

Elsewhere, Aegean gained 3.3%, Cenergy +3.2%, PPC +1.5%, Coca Cola HBC +1.3%. In contrast, Mytilineos fell 1.7%, Motor Oil -1.2%.
