Athens Stock Exchange "broke" the psychological barrier of 1,200 units, simultaneously marking the 5th consecutive positive session, with trading volume higher compared to previous days.

In particular, the General Index concluded the day at 1,219.99 units, having gained 23.51 units or 1.96%. As mentioned earlier, trading volume showed signs of life, reaching 95 million euros, of which 3 million were in packages (2.6 million in 3 of Jumbo), with the total number of transactions at 21.7 million shares."

The banking index led the gains with a surge of 2.62%, bringing it to 979.2 units, while the high-capitalization FTSE strengthened by 1.85% to 2,981.76 units, as did the mid-cap FTSEM, which closed with gains of 1.61% at 2,000.62 units.

Alpha Bank's stock gained +3.8% to reach €1.45, which is 12 cents higher than UniCredit's offer for 9% of TCH. Furthermore, Piraeus Bank's stock surged +4.5% to €2.92, while National Bank of Greece's stock followed with a +3.1% increase to €5.50. Finally, Eurobank's stock rose by +0.3% to €1.52.

In the high capitalization sector, Aegean saw a 5.8% gain with a turnover of over a million euros, while Motor Oil increased by 4.5%. TERNA Energy rose by 3.5%, DEI (Public Power Corporation) by 2.1%, Cenergy by 2.8%, Viohalco by 1.8%, and Sarantis by 0.76%.

Lamda recorded a 5% jump with a turnover of 800 thousand euros, while Ellaktor strengthened by 4.2%. ElvalHalcor gained 3.8%, and apart from OPAP, the only other stock with a negative sign in the FTSE was Coca-Cola, with a slight loss of 0.8%.

In the mid-capitalization sector, Intrakat stood out with a high turnover of over 1.2 million euros and a 5.1% jump, followed by Fourlis with 3% and 580 thousand euros, Intracom with 1.9% and 600 thousand euros, and the Hellenic Exchanges (ATHEX) with 2.6%.

Overall on the stock exchange board, 88 stocks moved upwards, 16 stocks experienced a decline, while 20 stocks remained unchanged. The market capitalization fluctuated at 82.8 billion euros.
