Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis emphasized the potential for further strengthening of Greek-Chinese relations on various levels during his official visit to China.

Mr. Mitsotakis had meetings with the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, Prime Minister Li Qiang, and the President of the National People's Congress, Zhao Leji, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, where bilateral relations were discussed, both on an economic and cultural level.

During his meetings with the leaders of China, the Prime Minister emphasized the role that our country can play as a bridge between China and Europe, while praising China's role on the international stage.

Mr. Mitsotakis, in the meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, emphasized Greece's economic growth and noted with satisfaction that two Chinese credit rating agencies upgraded the country's creditworthiness.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis placed special emphasis on economic cooperation, specifically the increase of Greek exports, especially agricultural products, to China. He also highlighted collaboration in tourism to restore Chinese tourist arrivals in Greece to pre-pandemic levels.

Furthermore, opinions were exchanged regarding EU-China relations. The Prime Minister reiterated Greece's longstanding position on the need for open channels of communication between the EU and China, emphasizing that it is mutually beneficial for this relationship to be constructive and stable. He simultaneously expressed his belief that Europe needs strategic autonomy to address global geopolitical challenges.
