Investments reaching up to €192 billion are foreseen in the revised National Plan for Energy and Climate (NECP) submitted to the Commission.

The transportation sector is set to receive the lion's share of investments, both public and private, totaling around €92 billion, aiming to achieve the goal of 460,000 electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles by 2030, including 30,600 electric passenger cars and 85,000 light-duty trucks by 2025.

€50 BILLION FOR RESIDENCES & BUILDINGS

By the end of the decade, special emphasis is planned for the energy upgrade of residences and, more broadly, for greening the country's building stock. According to the forecasts of the NECP, the market for less energy-intensive and more efficient heating and household equipment is expected to mobilize investments of €42.4 billion, while an additional €6 billion will be allocated for energy upgrades of buildings.

GREEN INVESTMENTS

The revised National Plan for Energy and Climate (NPEC) sets a target for renewable energy penetration in electricity generation to reach 80% by 2030, while lignite-based production is expected to be phased out by 2038.

Within this framework, renewable energy projects are projected to reach 23.5 GW by 2030. Specifically, by the end of the decade, the country aims to have 9.5 GW from wind, including 1.9 GW offshore, 13.4 GW from photovoltaics, and 0.6 GW from other green technologies.

Simultaneously, there is an expectation for an increase in energy storage system units (batteries and pumped hydro) to 5.3 GW. Offshore wind capacity in operation is expected to reach 1.9 GW by 2030.

To achieve these goals, the NPEC anticipates investments of €11.9 billion in new projects by 2030, as well as €6.5 billion in grid infrastructure.
